One of my friends emailed this interesting tale of his UFO encounter in the northern Rockies. His story follows:
When I was a youngster growing up in a rural community in the northern Rockies, it was a matter of tradition for my siblings and I to sleep out under the stars, on our backyard trampoline, the night before the first day of school each fall. This precious sibling time provided an opportunity for us to talk about all sorts of things and bond as brothers and sisters. It was also an opportunity to encourage each other for the coming school year. Older siblings would give advice to younger siblings regarding how to get along with certain teachers, how to navigate new areas of the school, and what to expect with new academic topics.
During one of these sleep-outs, when I was 7 or 8, after my siblings had already fallen asleep, I was gazing up into the night sky, admiring the beauty and wonder of the majestic Milky Way, when suddenly I spotted above our 2-story house, a massive metallic sphere floating silently in a steady, slow trajectory across the neighborhood. The sight of it struck me with such fear that I couldn’t move a muscle, nor could I muster the strength to call out to my slumbering siblings sleeping silently next to me.
I remember approximating the size of the UFO to be about that of our home, and it was floating above the rooftops by an altitude of perhaps 100 feet. I remember the “metal” has having little to no luster and was gray in color (which is why I say it was metal). It was perfectly spherical, with no obvious windows or doors (at least to my view).
After the craft went its way and I was able to regain my composure, I finally awakened my siblings on either side of me. Neither of them seemed startled, and in fact they questioned the veracity of what I saw.
The truth is, though, I know what I saw. It was the strangest thing I had ever seen in my life to that point. Since then, I have had other occasions where UFOs have crossed my path, including in the eerie deserts of Utah, in the dark sky territory Nevada, and the Melaleuca covered outback of Australia. I will write you another day with those tales.
Sincerely,
J.T.
